are we living in the end times?

Posted: May 23, 2010 in Question & Answer

Coming up on Sunday, June 6, I will be teaching through various subjects that pertain to end times, prophecy, and the book of Revelation. If there is a subject that is confusing, a future event that needs explanation, wordage that doesn’t make sense, or simply a period of time in prophecy that interests you… I hope to address it in my teaching on Sunday mornings. Write a comment below or simply email me your questions, concerns, and interests. I will be collecting your comments and will be using them as teaching points throughout this series. I look forward to unpacking this subject and hope to clarify what has been obscure to so many people. See you in class.

Jeremy, great job yesterday. I was wondering how you were going to ride this “bull!”

Had a thought/question for you to consider regarding the identity of the two witnesses. I’ve not read in the Bible where these two are identified specifically, & have speculated on who they might be. First, to me, since the Bible does not specifically identify them, apparently in inspiring the Word, God did not wish to include it (duh). Second, I’m looking at it against the backdrop of this verse, Hebrews 9:27, “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” Since both Enoch & Elijah have both not yet died, it would seem that they each would need to “have their turn” and die. I know the Biblical info on Enoch is limited, and it doesn’t say that he performed any miracles, while it does say that Moses did. However, it is clear from Scripture that not everything that happened was recorded. We see this from John 21:25, “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” (This seems to be hyperbole, not indicating there is literally not enough room for the world to contain the books, and this is also evidenced by the word, “suppose.”) All that to say is that it’s possible Enoch performed miracles, although the Bible is silent on this.

As well, Moses did die – Deut 34:7a, “Moses was 120 years old when he died.” So, he’d have to come back to life again, and then die again as one of the two witnesses.

Anyway, thought I’d throw that your way and see what you thought.

    Look forward to next week.

    Dennis
