Had a thought/question for you to consider regarding the identity of the two witnesses. I’ve not read in the Bible where these two are identified specifically, & have speculated on who they might be. First, to me, since the Bible does not specifically identify them, apparently in inspiring the Word, God did not wish to include it (duh). Second, I’m looking at it against the backdrop of this verse, Hebrews 9:27, “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” Since both Enoch & Elijah have both not yet died, it would seem that they each would need to “have their turn” and die. I know the Biblical info on Enoch is limited, and it doesn’t say that he performed any miracles, while it does say that Moses did. However, it is clear from Scripture that not everything that happened was recorded. We see this from John 21:25, “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” (This seems to be hyperbole, not indicating there is literally not enough room for the world to contain the books, and this is also evidenced by the word, “suppose.”) All that to say is that it’s possible Enoch performed miracles, although the Bible is silent on this.
As well, Moses did die – Deut 34:7a, “Moses was 120 years old when he died.” So, he’d have to come back to life again, and then die again as one of the two witnesses.
